Cake Tee Adventures
Our master plan for cake tee delivery was that they would arrive in the morning and we would spend the day cruising the city making deliveries and eating cake. General messenger life fun, right?
So the first plan was for me to buy a beautiful BMX from a guy on Ebay. Annoyingly he changed his mind at the last minute and it broke my little tiny heart! We then found out that the T-shirts wouldn't arrive until around 5. Yep, so that was our day not going so well. We had a quick trawl through the internet for a BMX, but sadly nothing fitted the bill. A change of plan bought us to Slam City Skates on Bethnal Green Road. I found a sweet deck which had my name all over it. The guys were really helpful and nice and off we rode with a fresh skateboard on my back. Broken heart mended, just like that.
We had some errands to run so went on a little ride through the city. We picked some cakes up from our favourite cake stop - Patisserie Valerie and headed back to base to stuff our little faces before we played out on skateboards. Yep, never growing up. Every day off is like the school holidays!
After skating for an hour or so, we were pretty tired, our little track legs just aren't used to using all those muscles. Inside we went to wait for the sacred T-shirts. They finally arrived and we were so hyped and excited. We're so pleased with how they turned out, the print looks great and they're super soft and comfy. We're never taking them off!
We were finally ready to start our delivery. We had planned it all out with the help of our trustyGarmin's which we can't work very well (whoops!). Off we went with the first stop somewhere past Brockley, it was pretty nice to not really know where you're riding but still have a point of destination. We got some serious house envy down south going up and down those hilly winding roads. At the first stop we were greeted with cake and banana bread. How awesome! Next stop was Crystal Palace. So down south was done and we were ready to shoot north to Tottenham.
We were enjoying ourselves having a giggle and a little sing song, just our usual general silliness. Somewhere near Tower Bridge when all of a sudden my phone fell out of my jacket pocket! Sam threw her bike down at the side of the road and saved it. It was pretty funny. Luckily it wasn't broken. Phew!
Anyway we had a lovely ride over Tower Bridge and were finally in familiar territory heading north. It was about 10pm and we had three more stops to make. We realised messenger life wasn't as easy as we thought when we got lost staring at our maps trying to figure out the destination. We were getting tired and hungry, pretty hangry for sure.
Tottenham was done and dusted and we could head to Stoke Newington and then Angel quite comfortably so we were happy. The last stop was done and we were pretty pleased with ourselves. Back to Sam's we went, where we were just in time to eat some Turkish food before they closed at 1AM! We were like a pair of tired children who had used all their energy up. I guess that's pretty much how our day went anyway.
We did about 30 miles of deliveries and really enjoyed it. We love our T-shirts sooo much and we hope you do too! Thanks to everyone who has bought one. There's a couple left on the store.
